Dive Academy Ballena Blanca, diving Costa Rica, wreck diving Isla Tortuga

We have approx. 8 dive spots in the area of Isla Tortuga and Isla Negritos. If you like wrecks there are 2 coast guard wrecks, one at 12 meters (Coronel Alfonso Monge, 82 feet long) the other one is between 18 and 24 meters deep (Franklin Chang Díaz, 95 feet long).

During the dry season - mid December till April - we have big Manta Rays visiting us, from January until September it is very common to see dolphins and whales, especially humpback whales.

The visibility can be 10 to 30 meters during dry season. Due to currents, heavy rain and strong winds during rainy season, the visibility will be half but one will be for sure....you will see lots of fish!

We combine our dives with a delicious BBQ at our own Rancho at Isla Tortuga. We prefer doing 2 tanks close together, so we can enjoy the BBQ and Isla Tortuga after the dives. Two tanks are $ 110 (including rental equipment and hotel pick up in Tambor, $ 100 if you have your own equipment and you need only weights/tank), snorkelling is $ 57 + $ 8 for the BBQ. Groups of 6 and more get the BBQ for free.

Planned dive time depends on air consumption and depth, normally around 35 to 45 minutes, we have fresh water rinse tank for cameras (please advice when booking).

Isla Tortuga offers you various additional activities like horse riding, jet skiing, banana ride and there is a souvenir shop (you can pay cash or with credit card).

Itinerary for a typical diving/snorkelling day on Isla Tortuga:

Hotel pick-up time 8.15am, getting your equipment ready at our Dive Center, departure 9.15am from the pier at Yachtclub Tambor. Approximate arrival time on the island 10am, drop off our snorkelling guests, first and second dive with our divers, back at Isla Tortuga around 1pm, BBQ and enjoying the beach till 3pm, back at Yachclub Tambor approximately 4pm, back in the hotel in Tambor around 4.30pm.

Transfer from Santa Teresa, Mal Pais or Montezuma is $ 40/return/person, max $ 120 per group (7 people). Pick up would be 7.45am, 30 min to get to our Dive Center, back Santa Teresa or Montezuma approximately 5pm.

We need a minimum of 4 scuba divers or snorklers per trip, all our divers/snorklers get 10% discount on all other tours we offer.
